Maui County is hiring the first director and deputy director for the new county Department of Agriculture, which is slated to open July 1.
Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on May 9. Both job postings are posted on mauicounty.gov/jobs.
Prospective applicants should carefully assess the roles, responsibilities and qualifications for each position and apply only for the position that best matches their qualifications, the county said in a news release Tuesday.
“The first director and deputy director will set the strategic direction for this important department,” said Mayor Michael Victorino. “Agriculture is critical to Maui County’s need to become more self-sufficient both in terms of food security and as a backbone economic sector.”
Both positions will be appointed by the mayor and the director must be approved by the Maui County Council.
Maui County voters approved the creation of a Department of Agriculture in the November 2020 election.
